Volunteer application

Applications for 2026 are now open.

Volunteer applications close on 18 March 2026.

We’re thrilled you’d like to be part of the Yackandandah Folk Festival. Volunteers play a vital role in making the festival happen, and by giving just a few hours of your time, you’ll be joining the community that brings it all to life.

Volunteer perks

5 hours = ½ price festival ticket

10 hours = Free ticket plus an invite to our exclusive post-festival party (with food & drinks on us!)

Volunteers who provide >5 hours of their time are entitled to free camping at the designated YFF camp grounds at Butson Park or the Sports Park.

Roles available

Please indicate your job preferences when applying. We’ll do our best to match them, but may need to fill gaps where needed.

Venue Manager

Keep things running smoothly at venues – coordinate artists, volunteers, and liaise with staff. Watch crowd sizes and pop up a “Venue Full” sign if needed (check with the licencee first). Work in pairs, solve problems, and make sure the space stays safe and welcoming.

MC

Love the mic? Introduce artists, make announcements, shout out sponsors, and keep the vibes up between sets. A bit of public speaking experience helps!

Ticket Checkers / Venue Control

Be the friendly face at the door – check wristbands, manage crowd flow, and help patrons with info.

Festival Office

Based at Yack Senior Citizens’ Hall – help with tickets, merch, and general enquiries. A great indoor role with a bit of variety!

Logistics Crew

Set up and pack down stages, marquees, chairs and more. Most of the action happens Friday and Sunday – some lifting involved!

Green Room Attendants

Look after artist chill-out spaces – set up food, keep instruments safe, and be a friendly point of contact for performers.

Green Team

Help us stay eco-friendly! Reduce waste by  washing and distributing re-usable crockery with our famous ‘Dish Pig’ or be a ‘Bin Fairy’ on our recycling and waste stations.

Car Parking

Guide festival-goers to the right spots and help keep things flowing smoothly.

Who can I talk to further about volunteering?

For more information please contact us.

Can I join the committee?

Yes! The committee is open to enthusiastic local individuals wanting to take on a greater role with the Folk Festival and there is always room for more volunteers on the committee. We meet monthly throughout the year and then as the festival nears more frequently. The committee is very flexible and appreciates that not everyone can take on a large role. If you are at all interested and want to learn more, we would love to hear from you! Please contact us.
