The 2027 festival will be held on March 23 – 25. Performer applications open on 1 July 2026.
We’re thrilled that you are applying for the 2026 Yackandandah Folk Festival! As seasoned participants in the festival process, we understand the excitement and effort that goes into these applications. Our goal is to make this process straightforward for both you and us. We greatly appreciate the time and energy you dedicate to preparing your content and we look forward to reviewing each application as we build an outstanding Festival for the folk community to enjoy!

Who we’re looking for
The festival is on the lookout for musical performers in the wide and wonderful world of folk music—and we mean that in the broadest sense. Think traditional folk, old-timey tunes, world music, jazz, blues, bluegrass, Americana, Appalachian vibes—you get the idea! If your music has soul, stories, and maybe a banjo or two, you’ll fit right in.
Now, for our wordsmiths out there: while YFF isn’t a poetry or spoken word festival per se, we do host a good old-fashioned Poet’s Breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. It’s free, it’s cheerful, and it’s a lovely space to share your verses (unpaid, but full of heart).
How to apply
The 2027 festival will be held on March 23 – 25. Performer applications close Sept 30th, 2026. Follow the ‘Apply now’ link below for all the details. Successful and non-successful applications for will be notified early December 2026.

Got questions? We have answers.
What are the accommodation options for performers?
All confirmed performers will receive either billeting (local homestay accommodation) or a reserved free camping space. While we are happy to extend free camping to immediate families of performers (within reason), please note that we cannot guarantee billeting for family members, as billets are prioritised for the performers themselves. If you require alternative accommodation, the town has two motels and one caravan park, but these often become fully booked well ahead of the festival, so early booking is strongly recommended.
Will my family and friends get discounted tickets?
All confirmed performers will receive two complimentary weekend tickets per signed contract. Partners, managers, and essential touring personnel exceeding the two complimentary tickets will be offered a subsidised ticket rate of 50% off full price. Additionally, performers’ children who are under 16 years old enter the festival for free.
Do I need to apply to busk?
You do not need to apply for permission to busk at the festival however you cannot use a PA or amplifier system. There are also Open Mic sessions held in the dining room of the Star Hotel on the Saturday and Sunday during the festival.
Can I join the community choir?
Yes! The choir is for people of all ages and singing abilities. Formed every year in January, this un-auditioned choir rehearses weekly throughout February and March. For more information visit the Arts Yack website.
