Black Orchid String Band is comprised of West Papuan musicians based in Melbourne who maintain the spirit of national unity in their freedom struggle through rhythmic ukuleles and big harmonies. Their musical skill, mixed with passion for their cause and an innate exuberance for life, is an irresistible combination.
Cat and Clint have charmed many an audience with their take on Old Time Mountain Music featuring foot-stomping fiddle tunes, haunting ballads, twangin’ banjo and vintage country blues. Hailing from Tasmania’s ancient Tarkine rainforest, Claire Anne Taylor crafts soulful folk songs that capture both the beautiful and dark elements of the human experience. With a colossal voice and a powerfully captivating stage presence, her live shows leave audiences in no doubt they have just witnessed something extraordinary.
Dean Haitani is a Blues and Roots singer/songwriter. He has honed the crafts of both acoustic and electric guitars, vocals and harmonica. His music is contemporary, forever pushing the musical envelope. His stories are from his heart and mind with compassion for humanity. Dean’s many successes include touring Europe the USA and Australia, supporting Ian Moss, The Choir Boys, Richard Clapton and Steady Eddy.
Frank Burkitt is a songwriter and a storyteller who has been performing his own brand of folk song for over 15 years. After relocating from Edinburgh to Wellington, he formed an insanely talented backing band that have become popular throughout New Zealand and Australia for their quirky arrangements, up beat performances and sharp suits! American Roots music with flavours of country, jazz and swing.
Fred Smith joins forces with joins forces with Matt Nightingale on double bass and legendary sideman, Carl Pannuzzo to present songs from his rich back catalogue and his new album Great – a wry interrogation of American politics, history and pathologies.

Hello Tut Tut, takes their audience on a musical journey, shaped by the aesthetics of cultures from around the World. Their debut album, World Music Dance Band, pays homage to its member’s ancestry, drawing upon sounds of the Klezmer, Balkan and Gypsy music traditions in order to craft original music that is both current and timeless.
With carefully crafted lyrics and a powerful bass voice, Luke’s rousing anthems and powerful, contemplative ballads range from our First People to refugees, fracking, war, drug addiction to light-hearted commentary on modern life. Winner of the 2018 Yackandandah Folk Festival Busking Competition (Open Section), Luke is due to release his debut CD in time for the 2019 festival. When he’s not performing, Luke holds down a day job an a doctor in emergency medicine in Northern NSW.
Marcia is an award-winning singer-songwriter, composer and music educator who effortlessly transverses the worlds of folk, country, soul, and jazz. Her voice is distinctive and beautiful as witnessed on the Australian TV show, The Voice 2016, and has been the sound of Australian music for over thirty years.
Marcia is a hard-working music educator, encouraging vocalists and songwriters to ‘find their voice’, and working with many indigenous artists in the arts education
space. Beyond her huge career as a contemporary singer-songwriter performing at venues across the world, Marcia’s songs have featured on ABC TV series Seachange, and her song Sorry, recorded with Goanna in 1997, was performed at Parliament House with the release of the Bringing Them Home Report. A Woman’s Heart -A decade on, features Marcia singing her song Poison Tree with Ireland’s Mary Black. Her voice and songs are as powerful as ever as witnessed on her 2015 release, Nashville Sessions EP recorded in Nashville. Don’t miss witnessing this sensational musician live with her band performing songs from her latest album, Everything Reminds Me.
As a solo performer (finger-picking acoustic guitar and vocals) and songwriter, Marisa started late in life and has slowly developed the confidence and skills to play guitar to support herself and more recently with a full band. Her musical watershed came in 2007 with a decision to pack her life into ‘Bob’ the campervan and take off on an epic solo road trip. Starting in her then hometown of Geelong, she drove up the eastern coast of Australia and across the Top End, mostly camping at roadside stops and staying with friends along the way.
Her two-year journey took her back to her roots in Darwin, where she stayed for nine months earning a living for the first time as a solo musician—writing songs, performing three to five shows a week, and crystallising her unique vocal style and stage presence. These songs formed the basis for her two solo CDs, Marisa Quigley and Gypsy’s Lament.
Since 2015, she has performed with Her Sunday Best; four experienced musicians who complement her sublime songs with a full instrumental sound and soaring harmonies. Her Sunday Best are Rudi Katterl (lead guitar), Chris Mangan (keys), Darren Christie (who is now Marisa’s Husband)(bass), and Bryan ‘Rolie’ Dwyer (drums).
Melissa Crabtree is a world traveling, river running, award winning singer/songwriter/guitarist who crafts original music rooted in her love for the wild, majestic lands of the American West.
Dayan Kai is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, vocalist, and producer with a lifelong dedication to music.
With a powerful voice imbued with honesty, Melbourne songbird Mezz Coleman writes & sings of love, loss & community. After graduating from VCA with a Bachelor of Music Performance (Jazz Improvisation), Mezz eventually found her home in the folk & indie pop traditions. With her ukulele in hand, she has spent the last decade performing in Melbourne and around regional Victoria, establishing herself as both a prolific songwriter & engaging performer.
Dancing between intricate, rhythmic cello lines, compelling lyrics and heart-tugging harmonies, Monique is an award-winning songwriting powerhouse. Onstage, she is described as a pure joy to watch. Offstage, she has hosted mountaintop sunrise concerts, taught cello in Afghanistan and travelled the World to dive deeply into fokelore treasure troves.
Cielle Montgomery and James Church are Montgomery Church – a blend of acoustic folk, Americana and bluegrass influences, grown and distilled in the Snowy Mountain ranges of country New South Wales. With their organic union of dobro and guitar, harmony vocals, and tasteful songwriting, this captivating duo are enthralling in their dynamic intimacy and embrace all that is subtle, spacious, and sensitive.
Nicky Bomba is an internationally renowned musician, producer and songwriter. As leader of the ARIA award winning Melbourne Ska Orchestra, front man for the Carribean styled Bustamento and highly respected drummer (3 albums with John Butler Trio) he is constantly touring and working on musical adventures
Over the years Nicky has formed and played with bands purely for the love of the music and the adventures they create. He started playing drums at the tender age of six and, with his future assured, has carved an incredible body of work with no signs of slowing up. With a passion for culture and people, Nicky has travelled extensively, immersing himself in the music and culture. Consequently, the music produced by this peace-lovin’ troubadour is a melting pot of fun, adventure and exotic sounds of the people and places he loves.
Paige Black is a singer songwriter who will caress you with her melodic, soulful sound and draw you in with her raw emotion and real-life stories. Paige’s unique voice, backed by keys, brings you sounds of soul, pop and folk all rolled into one. Paige will take you on a journey with her songs, narrating the places she’s been, the relationships she’s made and her sense of curiosity.
The repertoire of the ‘Pans on Fire’ Steelpan orchestra includes Calypso, Latin, Samba, Bossa, Jazz, world music, rock ballads and classical music. During our show, we talk about our bushfire recovery process using the pan, the origins of steelpan music, how the instrument is made and the variety of sounds one can make with it. We also provide workshops at the end of our shows.
Michigan-based, Red Tail Ring are Laurel Premo and Michael Beauchamp. Harpist Michelle Doyle, cellist Catie Martin and oboist/fiddler Jessica Foot meld their rich sonorities with eclectic craftsmanship to explore the far reaches of the contemporary Aussie-Trad musical vernacular. The Settlement are a band of brothers from regional Victoria that rose from the beer-soaked pub scene of South East Australia. They have released music every year since they first formed and have toured Australia relentlessly. Their extensive experience as a hard working band, has earned them a reputation as a gang of reprobates that live to play both on and offstage. Fun, lively and surprising, The Settlement will not disappoint.
Born out of a New Year’s Eve campfire sing-along, Tinman is a group of friends making dreamy folk music infused with the voicing’s of mandolin, cigar box guitar, piano accordion and ukulele. Add to that the lush vocals and seductive harmonies font-women Richelle and Sarah-Rose, the quartet is a dream combination that come together to create an electric live performance.
White Dog aka Wayne Robert Davies is an Alt Country Folk singer/songwriter from the UK. A career that has seen appearances at Earl’s Court(supporting Van Morrison), touring the UK Club Circuit with an 8 piece Ska band as wewll as appearing at UK festivals including the legendary Glastonbury. Wayne is an enduring performer who engages his audiences with jokes and observations.
